This highly effective form of medical massage is beneficial for people of all ages whether active or inactive. It is also beneficial to both the giver and the receiver.

More Facts:

Thai massage is performed on a mat on the floor, with the client remaining fully clothed.

Utilizing gravity, the practitioner uses his/her body to achieve maximum weight and leverage.

Thai massage is often referred to as a meditative dance, in which the client and practitioner merge into one continuous movement.

Passive stretching combined with rhythmic compressions are used to increase flexibility while relieving tension in the muscles.

Pressure is applied with hands, thumbs, forearms and feet.

Thai Massage not only calms the mind and nervous system, it balances the body's energy.

Traditional Thai Massage has been practiced for more than 2,500 years and is still used as a form of medical massage to treat numerous diseases.

Many of the techniques used in the ancient healing art of Traditional Thai Massage are applicable to the massage table. This style is widely performed by Thai Massage Therapists in Thailand hotels utilizing a quest’s bed rather than the traditional mat on the floor and many schools in Thailand are now teaching Thai Massage on the table.

For those of us in the west, Table Top Thai enables clients and therapists who cannot work on the floor an alternative that does not sacrifice any of the numerous healing benefits. It is also ideal for Spas & Therapists who may not have the room for or want to invest in the large floor mats used traditionally for Thai Bodywork.

UTI President and lead instructor Margie Meshew developed this comprehensive Table Top Thai routine which includes not only supine, prone, and side lying positions, it also features the highly effective and specific nine point treatment of the abdominals.

What is Swe -Thai Massage?
Swe-Thai Massage is a unique style of massage that combines the ancient eastern knowledge of a highly revered form of medical massage with the western knowledge of specific and advanced soft tissue therapy.
Swe-Thai is a comprehensive routine blending many Thai massage techniques such as forearm rolls, elbow press and open and yoga- style stretches, with proven and highly effective western treatment philosophies.
Swe-Thai Massage addresses general neck and back disorders using biomechanics which are based on Traditional Thai Massage techniques.

The Primary Theory of Swe -Thai Massage
The combining of forces will produce the desired pressure. This allows for optimal movement and strength while creating maximum results for the client with little or no stress on the therapist's body.
When utilizing the primary theory there are two forms of application.
Two tools applying one technique:
Thumb on thumb applying a press, glide, friction or pendulum.
Heel on thumb applying a press, glide or roll.
Two techniques performed using one tool:
A stretch with a press using a hand, forearm or elbow.
A stretch using only a forearm roll.
